Indiana Well Cost Overview
Indiana's thick glacial outwash deposits in the central and northern parts of the state are among the most productive aquifers in the Midwest. Wells commonly reach 5–20 GPM at 60–150 feet. Southern Indiana has more limestone bedrock (karst) with slightly deeper wells at 100–250 feet.
Indiana Regulations
Indiana water wells are regulated by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources under IC 14-25-4. A licensed well driller must be used. A completion report must be filed. Minimum setback from septic: 50 feet.
